In the past, I had trouble sleeping and was drinking 2 to 4 cups of coffee just to make it through the day. I’ve always heard that yoga is great for all ages and body types. However, I’d pictured yoga as a bunch of super-fit people contorting their bodies into crazy, intimidating pretzel poses or just the opposite, where people are sitting and meditating with their eyes closed. After some research, I came across Bikram yoga. It seemed intense but I was intrigued. I nervously entered the ‘hot box.’ While in class I heard my teacher say, “come everyday even if you’re sad, happy, sick, busy, or stressed. This yoga will help you.” 90 minutes later I came out drenched, disoriented, unable to speak but felt so amazing! Realizing that the class was better than a cup of coffee, I became instantly hooked! After several classes, I felt as though I found a hidden secret that everybody in this world should experience. With that in mind, I enrolled in Bikram Yoga Teacher Training and graduated in Fall of 2009. I am excited to be able to share this remarkable practice with all the yogis. See you soon!

I met Bikram Yoga 2005 in South Korea. Before that, I was living with pain for many years due to spine problems and stress from my job. I wasn’t able to be fully thankful with my life with what I had and that made my family and friends miserable. I fell in love with Bikram yoga with my very first class. I was the one of the happy first timer in that class. I completed the 2 time/a day/ 60day Bikram Yoga challenge which has brought changes to my life, physically, spiritually and mentally. Right now my spine is much stronger and my whole body is healthier. I went to Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in 2008. Since training teaching, I love teaching and sharing great energy with all the beautiful students. I moved to NY in March, New York is full with powerful energy, I love New York I am looking forward to seeing you in one of my classes soon.

I started Bikram Yoga after my competitive softball days were long gone. I was a college softball catcher with a love for high heels when I was not in cleats which equates to bad knees and aching back. I heard Bikram Yoga was a tough workout and my inner athlete wanted a new challenge. I thought yoga was for skinny, flexible people but I have to admit I was wrong. It is a perfect workout for the strong and curvy as well. I love that you can’t just muscle through a class like other workouts but you must be mentally fit to get you through too. You can’t just “phone it in” – you have to commit to having a great class. I am always on the run or on the fly and my Bikram Yoga class is usually the only 90 minutes of my day that I get to fully focus on only myself. After my 2nd reconstructive knee surgery I asked at every physical therapy session when I could return to the Bikram studio. My physical therapists laughed at me and said turn up the heat in the office and get on the stationary bike. Some people just don’t get it but to those people I say “don’t knock it ’till you’ve tried it”.

I never thought that I would ever try Yoga until I hurt my leg. My sister said that it might help my injury so I decided to try. That was back in 1995. If I didn’t practice Bikram Yoga I’m pretty sure that I would be in a wheel chair today. I really like the challenge. I definitely feel like I’ve worked my body, mind and spirit after a Bikram Yoga class.

As a teacher I get Hope and Inspiration from all students especially from students that are older and have more injuries than I do. After my last car accident when I felt like could couldn’t get better and was really depressed I remembered many students who had it way worse than me that worked hard and had a positive attitude. I thought that if they could do it then maybe I could too. Today I am still working through the injuries happily with others doing Bikram Yoga. I do it because I feel better and I am happier when I put deposits into myself. Helping others helps me help myself. I am truly grateful for my life because it didn’t have to turn out this good.

If you would have told me 3 years ago I would be a yoga teacher I would have laughed in your face but here I am. I spent most of my teenage years just beating up my body by just not taking care of myself at all. Eventually decided to turn my life around and starting eating healthy and working out by running the boardwalk everyday, lifting weights at the gym and eating healthy. After a while all the running and weight lifting took a toll on my body, I totally destroyed one of my knees and just had all sorts of back and muscle pain. I had heard about Bikram Yoga through some good friends of mine that owned a studio and recommended that I try it out. I went there figuring if anything I would just use it as my cardio. My first class was so hard I remember looking around the room and think these people are crazy that they do this all the time but I made myself go back the next day and next few days after that and I just started getting stronger and stronger as time went on. After awhile I started getting so many benefits out of the class not only physically but mentally also. After about 5 months of practicing I lost 30 pounds and just feel better and also think a lot more clearly about decisions I make and things I do on a daily basis. This yoga is for everyone no matter what life path you come from you just have to put the effort to work hard in class and the rest will come to you.

I took my first Hot Yoga class in May of 2011. Like most people I fell in love instantly. Coming from a life as a Bartender and Musician its safe to say that I wasn’t living the healthiest of lifestyles. The practice forced me to look at myself in the mirror and come face to face with what I was doing to my body by living such a lifestyle. I commited to the practice. Practicing five days a week. Knowing that I wanted to continue learning and experiencing all the benefits of this beautiful practice I asked to become a Workstudy. Over the next few years I deepened my practice through countless hrs in the room, working with other teachers, and being mentored under the guidance of Yolanda Nash I finally was able to become a teacher in Oct of 2013. Which I am tremendously grateful for. I have felt the true healing power of Yoga. I continue to work and deepen my connection to the practice. Continue my education of the asanas. Most importantly I continue to be humbled by the practice. Which helps me not only become a better teacher but reminds me that I am forever a student. Yoga may not be for everyone, but I believe everyone should try it. At least once. You just never Know!

I started practicing Bikram yoga after years of training in other forms of yoga. Unbeknownst to me I was experiencing symptoms of anxiety and panic after retiring from the NYPD, losing my mother and going through menopause. With these difficulties I came to the realization, that the best treatment was yoga. In 2007, I first attempted Bikram yoga at the RVC studio with my son, expecting to panic and to never return. Fortunately, the challenge of the practice and it’s great rewards kept me coming back. To say this hot yoga changed my life would be an understatement. Training in 2010, and now teaching was yet another challenge and well worth the hard work. I’m happy to share this knowledge with others and hope they find their way through their own challenges in life.

Don’t know where to begin with how yoga has open many doors in my life which has shaped me to who I am today. Definitely a different person in a good way of course. I have to thank my friend and husband John for inviting me to my first yoga class. Never thought I would return for my second class but I did and in here now full of gratitude and blessed to have been teaching hot yoga for over 12 years now. To be able to hold a space where the Long Island community can come to and experience not only how great hot yoga is and how it makes you feel but to have people recognize that time for “YOU” is precious and a necessity. I am inspired each and every time i enter that room and so grateful to call it “HOME”.

I took my first Bikram Yoga class in December 2004 during my junior year of college. Between my course load and work schedule, my level of physical activity was virtually nonexistent. I found myself driving past a yoga studio everyday on my way to school and once winter break began, I decided to take my first class. I had no idea what Bikram Yoga was and also no idea that it was going to be hot in the room. Immediately, I fell in love with the vigorous workout that Bikram Yoga provides and noticed that I had more energy at school and work. I practiced consistently for the rest of my college career and then I was encouraged by John and Yolanda to attend teacher training. Initially, I thought the idea was crazy but eventually went to Los Angeles and completed Bikram’s teacher training in the Fall of 2006. Yoga is a very important part of my life, but I am also a musician and I love the balance in my life that I recieve from the two. My level of physical activity has increased tremendously since starting yoga. I now like to spend time on the flying trapeze, rock climbing and I have even started running, something that I never thought would happen. I truly believe that yoga can really enhance anything you do or want to do in life. I look forward to seeing you in class!
